My first Horse Riding Lesson!

My parents joined me up with a horse riding club several weeks ago and the other day was my first day.
I learnt how to groom and tack up my horse. I also got to trott while riding which was so amazing I can't put it into words.
The horse i was put on was a sweet old horse named Sonnett. A chestnut.(my fave horse colour) He was a great little man to let me groom and tack him up(accidently got his mane caught in the saddle at one stage) with no trouble at all. What a little gentleman he was. I am now doing horse riding once every week on saturdays. My lesson starts at 2:00pm. I will probaly be on a different horse next week, but I am so excited, I am literally counting down the days.
I only got about 10-20 minute ride for the day as we spent the rest on learning how to groom and tack up the horse.(with an instructor to help of course) I thought I was going to be sore after the trott as when you go up down up down in the saddle, it hurts a bit. But I was fine. When I had to get off, I wanted to stay on ^^
After the short ride we got to give them another groom. Sonnett wouldn't stop pushing his head into my arms so that I was hugging his head. It was so cute. I loved him so much! I'll probaly be riding another horse next week, but it doesn't matter, I'll still see sonnett there and give him lots of pats. During the week I have to read to guideline books about the rules of the stables... I already read it but need to read it again.
my confidecnde needs to grow a bit more because not long ago I went on a horse trek and a horse kept bolting on me. When we were walking around the ring I was waiting for Sonnett to bolt with me. I was so used to being bolted with on the other horse. I was a little tense at first on sonnett but when the instructor came over and I told him about it I felt a lot better and strangely more confident

Update- Went to a shop called horseland. Brought a helmet, boots and some jodphurs. We were told we needed a helmet and boots. jodphurs were ideal but the riding club said it wasn't a big issue. Can't wait until next lesson, who shall I be riding?

Yeah, I love how Sonnett trusted me so much. It really made my week. Animals seem to bond quite easily to me...maybe I am just too nice to them ^^

Sounds like you really had a lot of fun! I am happy that everythin went really well for you. I do know that it drove me nuts to wait till every saturday to ride my nana (back when i didn't own her).... Lol you will begin to use horse riding as your means to "get away" from life's stresses.

I love my horse. She is the wind beneath my wings.

English I want to learn western one day, but first I'm going to learn the basics of English riding. Yesterday was supposed to be my second horse riding lesson but it rained so my lesson was cancelled :(
