This fall my friend was riding her mare, she's a VERY green rider and her horse spooked and she was trying to pull her up but the horse dove to the left. My friend flew off and cracked her spine.
My other horsie friend was kicked very badly in the face by one of her geldings in an accident. Nasty.
So lately when I go out to ride, my gelding is incredibly fresh because I don't get out there enough. I lunge him and let him have his fun but when we get in to the lope he still sometimes lets out a playful buck/kick, just being young and fresh.
I am almost nervous to go riding because I'm thinking it might be my turn.. You know bad things come in 3 and all.. I am being so irrational! But I have started looking at helmets and vest to be proactive in the event that something ever does happen.
So I'd really like to hear other stories of riding accidents and how they're better for it or just tell me I'm being a sissy so I can go out and get over myself haha.
