I hope you'll come back and let us know how it went. AND, if I were you, I'd get someone to video the early lessons, so you can view them in a year, just for yuks and giggles!

I will keep everyone updated and I think Id be horrified to see myself right now LoL I'm not sure when my first lesson is but we are working out the details because I'll be helping around the barn in exchange for lessons. We have plans to meet tomorrow so she can show me the ropes and I can get to know her and her fresian which I am excited to ride. I've never ridden one and they are sooo pretty. I'll definitely get pictures and share them

PMW: I have gained about 50lbs and am just over coming a knee and an ankle injury. I'm completely out of shape and I couldn't control my body. I felt so out of control and I wanted to cry but I'm stubborn and determined so I reached out for lessons and since I'm trying something new, then why not go all the way and step out of my comfort zone. I don't even ride English but why not try it. I like challenges and Im at least going to try it. You only live once and I don't want any regrets in life. If I don't like it, its not like I have to keep doing it.

that's great that you are stepping out of your comfort zone!! It is really hard for me to do especially since it means a change in my normal everyday life. Let us know how it goes and remember to not get so frustrated with youself. Take things slow and look at this as an opportunity to become a better rider

I always try to out weigh the negatives with positives but it can be hard. It takes a lot for me to finally break out of my normal habits but when I do I usually have good results so as I do it more and more, it becomes easier and my confidence grows but its not always easy just easier than the last time and its taken a lot to ask for help because well I'm just stubborn LoL

    Thanks for everyone's support!!

It's especially hard to ask for help at something you were once good at as well

Oh yea! I hate it LoL as a kid I could ride anything and often would, which of course resulted in lots of green rides and luckily no broken bones but many falls and "omg I really did that" moments. But I could stay on anything

I rode my mare for 30 mins today and didn't trot but she was a crow hopping mess so I sure got a work out. Wind+spring+not worked enough= bad idea LoL but luckily we got through it and my trainer (not the lady I'm getting lessons from but my horse's trainer) was there to help us out. I sat a full buck, thank god it was only one and a few crow hops. Amazing how when you focus too hard you fail at it but when you risk getting thrown your butt turns to super glue. OMG do I HURT right now LoL So good and bad day I'm going to try to ride on my own every other day. I have my mare, an OTTB, and 2 old retired QH ranch geldings to ride so I'll be working on my seat a lot now that the ground is defrosted.

I'm so determined to get back to where I was. I miss tearing across an open field at a full lope, racing nothing but the wind. I miss being in the open range, I miss cutting cows, I miss being able to enjoy the full freedom of riding a horse I can't wait!
