Nova's 1st Ride *Pictures*

I was pretty against riding my 2 yr old but I gave in and have only been pretty much sitting on her for mounting and starting cues. If any of you have read my previous posts with Nova, you'll know I've been driving her since she was a yearling and it has really realllly paid off she knows all her cues perfectly. She's such a people pleaser and isn't spooky at all. Well today I got the idea that maybe my niece would like to try a very short ride in the round. She weighs 80 pounds soaking wet so I figure a short ride wouldn't be too bad. She had so much fun and Nova did so good for her. Nova's only thing is that she needs to be urged to keep walking when she's riding because she's used to me being behind her with the driving lines or lunging her. The whole ride may have been 5-10 minutes long Enjoy the pictures and I'll get the video up asap!

And Video!

Gorgeous girl you have and congrats on the great first ride :) Makes me wish I would have started ground driving a lot sooner with my boy. Sorry if this is off topic what brand saddle is that?

It's a bear trap rancher from not sure the brand I would like a different one but it's what I got right now.

Gorgeous horse! And the rider is very pretty, also. Good luck with her training.
Quick question, when you say drive do you mean with a cart or with lunge reins(forgot what that is called)

I jog along behind her (safe distance) with long reins :), a surcingle, and snaffle. Started driving her at a year old. I wish I had a cart but we are saving for it!

Long reins, that's what they are called!
