    I disagree.

    There are many people out there that use the reins for upward transistions. That is by no means being hard on the horse.

    I agree with Spyder on this one. Probably testing the 1st guy - he probably fancied himself a real cowboy. There is a time, place & temprament for cowboyin' a horse. Can't do it with all horses, and it takes an experienced hand - not a guy who thinks he knows just what he's doing.

    95% of the horses I've "test rode" have tested me, and every time I made sure I asked the owner how to cue them for the canter BEFORE I cued them so I knew I was doing it right and the horse wouldn't get pissed off at me and throw me.
