over flexing ankles

My sister asked me to post for her about a problem she's been having with her heels. It seems her ankles flex a lot more than is normal or necissary, her heels just keep going down down down. Normally I'd say why are you complaining hahaha but she's having a hard time in cross country because of it. She went schooling this weekend and had a hard time staying up out of the tack and remaining balanced as he heels would just sink down further and further. When she does drops she feels less stable and she has been having knee pain that she believes may be caused by this as well as she has less absortion of shock on landing from jumps. Neither of us have ever dealt with someone with this issue before, she's trying to focus on it and think heels up or toes down but its still quite difficult for her. How bad is it to have your ankles over flexing and what may be some methods or exercises that would help her to reduce the amount that they do?

I know a lot of people that have this problem. She is probably double jointed in her ankles. Make sure she has sturdy fillis stirrups and I would also recomend these stirrup pads. I have knee problems and I feel they have helped with my knee problems. My roommate events and she has them on her jumping/XC saddle after I recomended them to her and she says she will never use another type of stirrup pad.

Super Comfort Stirrup Pads < Stirrup Pads and Accessories < Horse Tack|Dover Saddlery.
