Perfect Trail Ride

I took my swishy boy Citrus out for a ride today on the trail. Leaves are just starting to turn and there are even a few on the ground. The lake behind us is nearly dried up so I let him canter almost all the way to the water, until he started sticking in the sand. He is the kind of guy who won't go fast, even when encouraged- he will shake his head in protest. So he settled into a nice slow canter with his head up and alert, but not scared, just his typical curiousness. Like a rocking chair almost!!

It was wonderful. I even turned on my ipod when I was in the field- not the road of course. My horse with amazing tunes on a warm fall day- this will be one of my best memories that I shall store in my head for when I am old. It was fantastic :)

I know that canter. My horse does that one too. We call it the Pepe Le Pew. Glad you had a nice ride. Those are great moments to hang onto.

That's so great! I'm envious! Those days are the best, no doubt.
