The Petey con FoxyRoxy1507 and Gillian

So today Gillian came out to help me w the re-training of Petey since Swoop twisted his foot last night. At this point for Petey we are just working on getting him to flex and relax his neck and back and to carry his own weight and not lean on the bit or your hands.. I believe the ride went well. Unfortunately it was getting too dark to get the pic of our final canter which was the best ever. The day started out with a lunge to loosen Petey's back and for whatever reason he decided to freak out and run lol but once we got him back I got on for a minute to make sure he would not be crazy. Then Gillian got on and worked on suppling exercises at the walk and a little trot then I got back on for the finish!

**please no comments on not wearning helmets or on the way I am training as he has had multiple bad experiences that I have spent time trying to correct**

More to come tomorrow... and of course in the future

He's a cutie and looks like he has some great movement! Looks like he's doing good. The silly running picture made me laugh.

The main goal w Petey lately really is just getting him relaxed and happy and that he does not have to put his head up like a giraffe or hang on my hands.. my hands are down a lot in these pics but I've been riding with them very high when his head is high and I will flex him.. once he flexes I over exaggerate going soft in the reins and bringing my hands down but still keeping contact. He's a very smart point and is starting to get the picture so I am very proud of him. When he was up with my trainers daughter they never stretched him properly and basically never really used leg aids on him so I've spent the last year trying to show him riding isnt horrible since he had a sore back and that I will not yank on his face but he also cannot lean on me. I even had to re-teach him leg aids.. so we're just now starting on the self carriage and more lateral work. I will have another dressage lesson this weekend so there will prob b pics of that too. But I am very proud of how far he's come since I got him back last july
