    Pleasure class and dressage

So I've switch disciplines and I'm riding my first dressage test in July, but it has been a good three years since I've really taken my horse to another facility to ride (besides moving barns last year) since I don't have a trailer so I thought it would be good to take her to a open show in early June, since everyone at my barn is going, and do a couple pleasure classes.

However I just have a dressage saddle and I feel a little out of place. Has anyone done a pleasure class in a dressage saddle? It's just a schooling show, so it's not that big of a deal and I'm sure it'll be fine, but I can't help feel a little self-conscious. I'm not very worried about doing well or anything either, just the experience and exposure!

Just do it. You need some experience and you won't be out much getting it HERE. Just ask everyone about what saddle they suggest you need, when you and your horse get really serious about showing in a pleasure class.

LOL, I took my huge great English Greenie, to a Western Schooling show a few weeks back. Now I did have him in a western saddle, but I wore a hard hat, among all the western hats.

I trotted a reining pattern, and a barrel pattern, all these little nippy western horses and me and the elephant, and it was a total blast. All I wanted from the day was for the both of us to relax, and have fun, which we did. As a bonus he also worked with other horses in a rail class, learned to walk out of a line up and work alone in the ring, and how to stand about all day being bored for a lot of the time.

That is why I love schooling shows, don't worry about the little things, the big thing is to get out there and DO IT, and enjoy
