Hi guys, this is my first post so I'm hoping that I have put this in the right place.
Anyway, I will be joining Pony Club for the New Year with my young horse and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit more about what to expect out of it?? I am looking to get into eventing so would this suit my needs??
I was in Pony Club for years, I think it's a great club. I really enjoyed the theory part of it, the manuals are great. As for riding the events are fun, I loved testing, our Pony Club would put on a show every year and it was great! We also had camps every summer and brought in coaches from around the world and learnt a lot, and met tons of new horsey friends.
It's a great thing to be apart of, unfortantly politics between the parents ended up ruining the fun for everyone in my club!
As for wanting to be in eventing, Pony Club is a great for that, the Ridden Tests include Show Jumping, Dressage, and Cross-Country.
Have fun!!
Pony Club can be a really great resource and experience.
There are a few things I would be wary of though.
The quality of instruction can vary a lot, and while usually everyone means well don't take everything as truth - questions (to yourself) what they're teaching you. Do what you know is best.
It can also get very - political? Gossiping? Anyway be nice to everyone, don't talk behind peoples back even if you think you trust your conversation partner. And don't get locked into the cliques, spend time with everyone.
Thanks for the advice! The horsey world is very bitchy anyway and lets be honest, girls in general are pretty bitchy so I would expect nothing less
