If you don't want to put all the tack on, you could also use the quartersheet with a lunging roller. Works about the same. (Well, I've used it before when I worked in Ireland during one winter, and it seemed to do the trick :) )

I don't think you are asking a dumb question, you are not sure of something and you are asking about the welfare of your horse. If this forum was full of these types of questions, I would be happy.

So to me a quarter sheet is an exercize sheet, it is so annoying that I am English but live in America, but everything is called something different.
I would use a sheet/blanket for the first part of the warm up and then remove it. I also use a cooler after the exercise is done in winter, in summer I hose the horse off. And I cool off the horse by walking them so they have some chilling out time.
