Ahh I'm so happy to see that people share my pain lol. This past week we've had some strong winds and large amounts of snow. Now it's starting to get warmer and the winds are dying down. The snow is turning to slush...but I don't know if I should get my hopes up. Weather in northern Wisconsin is so unpredictable! It's unfair!

To rope the wind,
You've got to believe ~Unknown

I have been trail riding in the snow during the past few weeks but the thawing and re-freezing each night is making going a bit treacherous. Deep snow is a lot better than this ice. We use borium shoes & snow pads but I still worry about slipping. Our ring is a sandy sloppy slippery mess. I am dreaming of a nice green field, no flies, temperatures about 70 degrees :)

Yea so I went out to ride in the 3 feet high snow for like 10 minutes. Terrible!!! Its gotten warm out so its raining every once and a while now and in the morning its a skating rink. My horses are like sliding to there hay piles and the water trough. Its terrible! I hate winter! Right now its snowing. :(

I'm so happy I'm not alone! My winters not so bad compared to you guys but its cold! Native south Texans lock their doors and light fires when its under thirty degrees. My riding lessons getting canceled because its so cold... And every half decent day the entire barn comes out so its too crowded to get anything done...

I miss spring... I miss summer!

England had so much more snow than we are used to this year! It was so icy we couldn't turn he horses out for two weeks and we had to walk an extra 10 minutes to carry all our water back. A horsey winter does drag on :')

I am going back out in the snow today for some light trail work - hills up and down. My horse is 99% recovered from a stifle strain last Fall and needs to be ridden lightly 5+ days a week to strengthen the joint.

Same in British Columbia we had record snow fall then it melted went in to cold shock and now its a skating rink and we are expecting another 12cms(snow) or so tonight.

Live to ride. Ride to live.

i personally loooove winter, and am not ready for it to be over! the cold doesn't bother me because you can always add layers :] we have lots of snow here, well over my knees in some parts cause of drifting, and i love riding in it. i have an indoor which i realize is a big plus that many people don't have, but i like to ride through the snow too. i ride outside at least a couple times a week just to get out of the indoor! also, i HATE bugs, i would much rather deal with the below freezing temperatures than bees, flies, gnats, ick. don't get my wrong, i love summer and especially fall but winter is great. in my opinion at least. you gotta at least be able to tolerate winter to live in wisconsin!

I'm sick of the winter, i was sick of it about a week into it this year. It seems like it's lasting so long. i went out to the barn today, got my horse out of his field, tacked up and was all excited that it wasn't snowing/raining or ice raining. I got out to the field and it was like walking on a sheet of glass, so slippery. and the ice was all in big chunks. i didn't even try and get my horse worked, we just went back to the barn and i untacked him.

I feel bad that he's getting bored in the field and theres no grass for him to eat but at least he's not a spazz. he calmly walked around with me today and was very careful where he put his feet. the barn manager keeps telling me how great he's being with the ice and how he's the most careful horse in the barn.
