Red face Riding after Surgery

So I had scoliosis (back) surgery two years ago and well, I was naughty and rode before I should have, oops. The docs told me I could start riding after a year and well I rode about 7 months after hehe. Nothing bad had happened but I have noticed something. I almost have to relearn to ride because I am so much more balanced! I know this is a good thing but I find it wierd because I have ridden 5 years before getting this surgery and I learned to balance differently. I can feel myself trying to get back into the habit of attempting to sit straight by putting my left shoulder down and that is making me unbalanced. Its hard to explain, sorry.

By the way the scoliosis surgery recquired me getting two bars put into my back from neck down. Quite scary, but I sit sooooo much straighter in the saddle!

Does anyone else have a similar story?

Summer of 09' while riding my pony she went to deep into a turn with a mud patch slipped out from underneath herself and fell on my right leg breaking my tibia in two places near the ankle requiring surgery. I wasnt supposed to ride until I was done with physical therapy which would be around 5 months. About two weeks before I got off crutches I broke the rules and rode after 6 weeks post surgery (2 months since accident) at a show w/t/c.

I finished PT in about half the time I should of mostly because of using just my knee for posting, having to put my heel down and from cuing. The doctor and physical therapists where very surprised, but never learned of the extra physical therapy I was doing.
