During the summer me and my cousins usually ride until we can't see our hand in front of our face. We wear glow sticks when we do this so we can see each other and the horses can see fine so, but during the winter I tend to ride during the warmest part of the day so im not too cold

I always ride at night during the school year due to having crew until 5 which is when Indy gets fed. Give an hour to digest that's six, assuming I can get there around 6 I usually start riding by 6:45. Usually though I ride at 7:30. We (luckily!) have an indoor arena or if I want to ride outside we just bring floodlights. They do eat up the battery though....

I definitely know how you feel! It gets dark here around 5:00-5:30 pm here now. I try to get out to the barn as early as possible, but have also found that riding in the dark isn't that bad. There's light from the barn right beside my arena, so that helps some.

Good luck!
