I love the feeling when you know you don't need any tack and can trust your horse the way he is. :)

And, as others are posting pictures, too...

What a stunning horse!

I rode my mare for the first 3 yrs. Just in her halter, she was 3 when I got her....she had 30 days of riding on her, was very skittish/jumpy/spooky when I got her but I did alot of work with her in the round pen. I've had her almost 8yrs. Now and maybe 5 times I've ridden her in a bridle/bit......I do have a bitless bridle that I use on her now.......I find she's probably as responsive as others riding their horses with bits.

My horses are the joy in my life.....

Thanks! :) I take great pride in him.

I have come a long way, to surrender my shadow to the shadow of my horse.

Drifter and I were working on this when he got put on stall rest!

I use his rope halter so I never tied the rope like actual reins. I hold the rope and slight pressure back with a deep seat is "woah". I open up my left hand with the rope to and apply leg to have him turn left, and he responds with pressure on his neck to turn right. He was getting really good at it! Right before he got injured I had chanced a trail ride in just his halter and he blew me away. Trotted nicely around our xc course we use for trails and we got a short canter in too. I was scared because I felt like I had no control (did I mention I was bareback too?) but he transitioned down when asked like a true gentleman.

Its definitely something I plan on continuing once we start riding again!
