Riding while pregnant?

Hi everyone,

I am 6 months pregnant, and stopped riding as soon as I found out. I wanted to know if any of you have continued riding while pregnant, and found any discomfort? For my situation it was a good idea to stop, but I have dreams about riding all the time! Can't wait to start back!

Well, I''ve obviously never been pregnant, but one of my trainer's had a baby last year. I believe she kept riding up until her eight month. At least that long. She wasn't able to sit the trot and had to post and near the end of her pregnacy she mainly just hand-galloped the horse she rode to keep him fit.

I don't have personal experience (but I'm hoping to soon!), but one of my old trainers also rode up until here 7th month. I think what I have read before says most doctor's discourage it, but if you're an avid rider and are used to riding everyday, you should be okay up to a certain point.

I personally don't have any experiences but I have had several friends that were prego & still rode. I also had some that didn't ride very long after they found out. I think (in my opinion) it will all depend on your situation & what your DR says. I say if the Dr says you can then go 4 it. But if its a risky situation anyway... then obviously don't! BEST OF LUCK WITH THE PREGANCY!
