Wink Riding! Your Fav?

i wasnt sure where to put this so i just put it here :)

My FAVORITE of all time is riding bare back. even thought it can be hard with my Arab, because she has crazy high withers.
but i love to ride bare back becuse you can feel the horse, and they can feel you.
If you are confident, they will be to!
Here is my list of what i have rode from fave to least fav :P

-Bareback
-Bareback Pad
-Western Saddle
-English Saddle

now tell us ur favorite!! :P

Mines Bareback too! I love being able to feel the horse and feel his muscles moving beneath me!

I like riding bareback but it's very difficult on my mare. She has zero withers to speak of. It's easy to slide forward and there's not much you can do about it. It took me a long time to get her figured out.

It's not very effective for me to ride bareback all the time, when I have to rope and run barrels and cut cows..lol.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

Hmmm.... It depends on the horse for me. With my mare (or a horse that I trust and know) I love riding bareback (can't stand a bareback pad though). On her I also love riding her western, but an english saddle is the devil when I'm on her. (She's butt high, roughest horse you've ever met and cantakerous with an english saddle on). There's something about sitting bareback on a horse watching the day go by as they graze that's just fulfilling.

On my gelding I love riding him in an english saddle. He loves it and gives me the best ride then, I'll ride him western if I have to but he tends to have more melt downs then, and bareback.... well I did that once and ended up getting off halfway through because the poor guy stood stock still and physically shook.

Anything with a well fitting UP or McClellan type of tree will always be my first choice. Displaces the most weight and has the least negative impact on my horse's back. Of course any well fitted tree is better than none, but for the riding I like doing I need as much displacement as possible (want to avoid being hold up while a sore back heals).

They're always going to be bigger and stronger so you better always be smarter. (One of my grandfather's many pearls of wisdom)
