Two riders and two horses I'm assuming? Carry a ball between them that is suspended on a very small net maybe?

Yes two horses and two riders. Broomstick polo, where they have two carry buckets of water and dump it into each others bucket, dragging items together, carrying an item together, pivoting poles together.

Relay jumping? This is for a couple of teams of two riders. One person jumps the course, and as they cross the finish line, the other goes. Quickest time wins. Pairs barrels. Both go at once, one rider does the normal barrel race pattern, the other startes at the top barrel, and then the bottom two. if you need more rules on that one just google it :)

My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder, She carries me away from all my fears, And when the world threatens to fall asunder, Her mane is there to wipe away my tears.

How about give them a piece of toilet paper and they have to each hold an end without breaking it while going around a cone, or barrel.

Egg transfer. Both riders carry spoons and transfer the egg back and forth while riding around cones or something.

You just have to see your don't have to like it.

I just thought of some more ideas.

Do a relay where the riders begin at separate ends of the arena the first rider carries a baton or other item rides down hands it off to the other rider who brings it back. You could put up an obstacle, or cones to go around to make it more interesting.

Another event I have done which largely depends on your contestants if it's doable they ride down together get off switch horses and ride back. But for obvious reasons it would not work if you have say little pony and large rider to switch, or hot horse and small child ect..

Teams could also ride down together to a pile of clothes be required to put three things on and ride back. Shirts, large pants, overalls, scarves, hats

Buddy pick up but then you would only use one horse, two riders

A variation on key hole the riders go down together and each rider has to go in the key hole and come out separately, while the other rider waits on the outside.
