    I have had her for a year and this is the first time she has reared.

    I would look at it as a reality check. You now know that horses can be dangerous. I think if she has only reared once in a year and a half, it is not in her normal behavior. I might look at it as you are a better rider than you thought if she reared straight up and did not fall off.

    I think your reality check may have brought out your fear to a higher level but if you continue to ride, it will again return to its normal level.

    Thats what I have been trying to do ride every weekend even though I am scare to gain my confidence again

    Another (and positive) way to look at is that you rode through the rearing incident and stayed on and in fine shape.... Having done that, you know that you CAN do it. And if you did it once, then you could do it again.

    Confidence can come from the belief that "nothing bad is going to happen" but confidence can also come from the belief that you can handle whatever might happen, bad or good. Riding through that rear could actually boost that second type of confidence....

    Time in the saddle will really help. Just don't quit and you'll get there!
