Shall be interesting this afternoon

So I feel pretty awful but havent ridden my boy for bout 2ish weeks now and havent seen him for a week i've been so busy with the last 2 weeks of school ever for me. Finally graduated 2 days ago and recovered so this afternoon I'm going to go out and go for a bit of a ride. Coz he's only 6 and is really naughty when not ridden, it shall be interesting to see what happens lol. He's never bucked when fresh but he did once pigroot a tiny bit so I'm excited to see how he handles having to be ridden. Not going to do much with him today just get him listening to what I say and how I am in the saddle. Im just realy excited to see him, i'm sure he will be an absolute pain to tack up though.
We will see.
So whats everyone feel when they get on a new or fresh horse? Do you feel nervous, worried, excited etc?

My feelings: Alert and ready to work on groundwork first if they show any sign of needing a reminder on what they ought to be doing! ;) Have a great ride!

Thanks haha, he was an angel on the ground I was so amazed. So I got on him and WOW. Acting like a total gentlemen like I have been riding him all week or something. I'm so proud of him today to be honest lol. Though he's turned into a sand monster without his rugs :/

When I get on a frisky or green horse, I have to be calm, otherwise they will pick up on my state of mind and will act accordingly. So if I'm antsy, not sure of myself, or not focused for some reason, then I'll stick to groundwork until I'm back to normal.
Good for you you!nothing better then feeling proud of your horse and having an awesome ride!

My horse was like that recently, too. He was off for three weeks due to an injury, and usually after being off that long he's a total monster, lol. But he was perfect - better than he is if I ride him every day for a week.
Silly horses. Always keep you on your toes.

Edit: My boy was an utter sand monster when I rode him last, too... although his transformation happened over night... sigh.
