Roxy has made boatloads of progress this past year or so, but unfortunately she hurt her back in December. She got most of the winter off; just a few times walk/trotting bareback (her back was fine for that of course, I just didn't want to push her too quickly.) When I finally got her started back into consistent work about a month ago, she was doing GREAT. She had a nice long stride and seemed to finally be understanding what I was asking her to do with all our dressage work.
This past week or two though, she's seemed really unhappy. She normally comes trotting up to me in the field and now I have to practically drag her out, even to just be brushed and have a little treat. She's usually really fast when I ride and now I've been having to use spurs just to get her to move, and even then her stride is much flatter and lazier than it had been. I try to change it up as much as possible, going for trail rides and working in fields etc., as I know she doesn't like the ring much, but even then she still doesn't seem as happy as she typically is.
Do you have any suggestions for getting her more excited about work? She isn't in any pain so I know it's not an injury or something like that. She quite frankly just seems almost..depressed? But then other days she's perfectly fine and works beautifully. I'm just not sure what to do with her. We have a really hectic showing season starting in a few weeks and I really need to get her ready...
Thanks in advance.
