My first horse was taken out from under me suddenly by his previous owners (well, technically they were apparently his actual owners, but yeah...long complicated story). So, yeah, not a good experience there.
If you want to count first horse I have paid for (the other horse was given to me), then Aires is my first and it's been a good experience so far. I bought him from the BO where I board. I went there with my friend (who boards her mare and gelding there) and was going to check out leasing a horse. The BO and I started talking and he asked if I'd rather buy a horse. Of course I said yes, but told him that I couldn't take the big hit of buying a horse straight-out at the moment. He showed me Aires and I instantly fell in love. The BO offered to let me do payments and gave me 24 hours to think on it. Less than twenty-four hours later I walked into the stable and signed the papers on my boy. Got 30 days of training with the BO and the trainer at the barn, as well as having him gelded free of charge, in the contract, as well.
Do not tell me I can't...because I will show
you that I can.
