So excited, my first horse!

So about a month ago I was talked into adopting my first horse from my vet school. He is a hunter-jumper TB school master and a very sweet boy. Tonight I really rode him for the first time after weeks of ground work to establish who is boss, etc. (he is sweet, but TB after all!!) It was awesome, we walked and trotted and cantered and despite my horrible riding skills (starting lessons next weekend!) he did everything I asked, even a little half pass action. Just needed to share the incredible thrill I feel at having gotten my extremely pushy boy to respect me and have an all around terrific ride together! It was pretty much the best night of my life.

congrats on your new horse!! have loads of fun and spend lots of time together

Sounds as though "it was the best night of your life" - so far.

Seemingly you made a wise choice of horse mate.

Enjoy!
