So you think you can ride huh?

I heard about a great game. It really separates those who have control over their mounts from those who do not. It's a reverse horse race. The game is played in a field or anywhere you can canter for a good distance in a straight line. The rules are simple. Everyone line up and canter to the finish line. You cannot break from the canter. If your horse trots or walks, you're out. Here's the kicker. LAST one to the finish line wins. Have fun!

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

LOL, that sounds like fun but I would probably lose every time. Dobe is the only horse I currently have that is uber controlled at the lope but even then, he isn't conformed to be comfortable going really slow.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

I'd win, but only because I'm the only one who has a horse with that kind of training. O_O

It'd be great fun to do with people/horses at the same level though. I think someone should try it and film it! =]

Ooh, I forgot about those western loping horses. I bet they'd do well in a race like that. My horse is an OTTB who was bred and trained to be a stalker, so he's good the first part but then expects to turn in up a few gears at the end. I haven't won yet, but it is a fun exercise.

I can just see a group of WP horses doing it now. And I'll still be watching them in an hour. And again the next hour. Haha!

Just for time's sake, that would have to be about a 100 foot race LOL.

The woman who told me about rode upper level dressage. Her horse could literally canter in place. I wish I had seen it.

Ahaha! I totally want to try that. Though I'd loose...horribly. Tango has such a fast canter, and we'd break into trot so many times. It would be fun though.
