I used to do casual stablehand work at an agistment centre and one day a girl and her mother started boarding there. They had had no lessons and no experience handling horses at all. They went and bought a green, OTTB mare and expected to just be able to hop on her and start riding like Olympic equestrians, despite the fact that the horse was a complete psycho (understatement of the year!) that needed a lot of work. They came to the stables in flipflops and short-shorts, and then complained when their manicures got ruined. I tried to teach them the basics but they just wouldn't listen and they were convinced that they
knew best. I'm so glad I stopped working there because they were a complete nightmare!
