Unhappy Unusual problem - Bareback to saddle

Well, this is probably a first for most of yall. I've ridden solely bareback for the past 9-10 months, only used a saddle maybe 3 times during that. Riding in a saddle during the 9-10 bareback months became progressively more and more awkward and uncomfortable, and I eventually decided that I could just forget the whole saddle thing for the time being.
So that worked out for several months. But now I've got a reining lesson coming up (first one ever) and I'm going to have to use a saddle. I have from tomorrow (Saturday) to this Tuesday, to get used to a saddle. I rode in one today and the ride was awful. I was nervous, my horse wouldn't do anything I asked (she's normally pretty well behaved) and it just felt... wrong, I guess. It felt unnatural and dangerous. I have a bit of a fear of saddles, I think. Riding bareback, I've fallen more times than I can count but I was never seriously hurt. I attribute that to the fact that when I fell, I just came right off. On a saddle, there's so much to get caught on - horn, pommel, cantle, stirrups, etc. and I get so nervous!! I have fallen only once when using a saddle, and I managed to get pretty banged up because my leg hit the cantle and my otherwise smooth fall was messed up because I twisted due to my momentum getting slowed by my leg + the cantle.
My worst fall was bareback, when my horse was trotting and he misstepped and his hoof went sort of into a ditch. He fell and I fell with him. Because there was nothing to stop me, I just kind of slipped off and landed on my side. I was fine, a bit scraped from landing on a gravel road, but otherwise in pretty much one piece. But I can only imagine what could have happened if I had been riding in a saddle that day... Not much scares me, but this thought scares the crap out of me.
What can I do to try to get used to riding using a saddle? I can't be this fearful during the lesson, and I highly doubt I can ride bareback for it:/

I know some saddles I've tried I've absolutely hated.

But some of them have worked well for me, and I enjoyed being in. I used to love riding bareback, though I wasn't any good aside from walk trot.

Find one that works for you. If it feels weird, then maybe you need to try a different one.

Spacing between your paragraphs will make it read better, turns into one long run on sentence and is hard to pick out points you are having issues with.

And you will be fine with saddle. Just another part of life with horses.

You should be concentrating on the lesson mostly, so doubt saddle will even faze you.

Horses make me a better person.

Sorry about that, Palomine. I put spaces between my paragraphs, but it must not have translated quite right. Here's the original post, with extra spaces:P

Thanks, I think I'll try out a different one today. My BO has several that she allows me to use, so maybe I'll use a couple of those over the weekend.

Any chance you could get your hands on a treeless saddle? It might be a nice compromise between bareback and a full treed saddle.

I know now that I mostly ride with a treeless if I switch over to a treed saddle I feel disconnected from my horse because there is so much bulk.

All I pay my psychiatrist is cost of feed and hay, and he'll listen to me any day!

I don't know, I'll check around. I've only got two more days to get used to a saddle so I'll have to stick to treed saddles for now:/ But I'll see if there's one I can use after the lesson! Thanks for the idea!
