Question What fun things can you do in the arens with your horse, not riding and riding.

Im buying a horse tomorrow [Don't worry, I've read up on them in the summer]
The gal I'm buying it from says it LOVES games, wether its in the saddle or not. She said he loves to learn tricks, but I'm not sure what else to play with him!
Please help!

I'd rather be at the stall
Than at the mall.

Good luck with the new horse! I hope you enjoy him.

When you say games, do you mean games like western games (barrel racing, bending poles, etc.)? I'm a little confused...

Aww, congrats on your new horse! Maybe you'll want to ask the lady what some of his favorite games are so you can use those to bond and build your communication :)

You can also look into some groundwork exercises. Any sort of tricks and training can be like a game if approached in a fun way.

For riding games you can try making different shapes, going over trot poles, winding through cones and working on transitions: walk-trot, trot-halt, halt-canter, etc.

You can play with bending, flexion and lateral work too. I have no idea if this is what you were looking for :)

My horses and I have had a lot of fun learning to roll a big horse soccer ball. You can learn more about this on this site: www.imagineahorse.com

We worked on it from the ground, on a lead rope, and my 5 year old caught on really fast. It was a great tool to help him stay interested in round pen work from the saddle, too.
