What size of kerrits winter breeches to get?

I'm trying to save money and buy on-line. My daughter is 10 years old, and fits into size 10 or 12 breeches, depending on the brand--quite snuggly--they are just right, and on the tighter side.

I'm thinking of ordering size L for her, which says 12-14. How loose is "too loose" for riding? I worry that if I order M (8-10) she will outgrow them midwinter. Or maybe they do stretch? Why isn't there a 10-12 size!

Any help with how they fit and othe advice for winter breeches is welcome. Thanks!

In other words, if the waist fits her well (I can adjust that) but the pant is a not very tight on her, is it a problem for riding? Thanks.

I usually take a size L breech, but did order an XL for my winter ones. I've found that if things are too tight in the winter they don't keep you as warm. You need a bit of air between your skin and the breeches to insulate. Plus on the really, really cold says I wear silk longjohns under them to keep the wind out. I'd rather have them a bit loose than too tight.

My daughter was 10 last winter and wearing a 10-12 pant size and I got her the L size. It worked out great. They were a little "gappy" but did not hinder her in the least. As a matter of fact she loved them! Hopefully she'll be able to wear them again this winter but at the rate she is growing I'm not sure.

I take an XL in the summer tights with Kerrits yet, the winter XL are way too big even with thermals under them.
