I thought maybe we could share negative things our horses have done to us (bites, kicks, bucks, pushiness, etc) that really made us think about what were doing wrong (This thread inspired by "Hurting Horses") I think the more we understand the horse, the more we'll understand how to discipline correctly. I think we could all learn a lot from eachother's experiences :)
I brought Willy to his new barn and had him out in the arena, loose. There was a gelding in a stall that protruded into the arena, so Willy kept going over there and squealing, stomping, etc. I was trying to keep Willy away from the other horse (our first day, didn't want anyone hurt, especially when the horses' owner wasn't around). Long story short, Willy got pissed at me and threw a kick my way that landed on the inside of my upper thigh, just above my knee cap.
He dropped me to the ground. Huge bruise :( . I swear that guy coulda broke my knee if the shot was slightly lower. Needless to say, we're starting ground work next week!! He's usually a lover, but I was in his face, in a new place, with a new horse around, and I was asking for trouble. I was an idiot!
