When to start riding horse again?

My horse is coming off a break of 6 weeks from riding. Finally, today is a nice day and I'm not sick anymore, so I'm thinking about riding him. It would be simple work, just walking and trotting, to get him back into the swing of things. The next two days we're supposed to have rain/snow, then Wednesday I go back to school. Starting Wednesday its supposed to be sunny again. So, should I go ahead and get a ride in on him today? Or would it be better to wait till Wednesday or Thursday to start it up again? Once I start riding him I want to get back to doing it consistently. (And this is all for his sake, not mine)
This may be a dumb question but I can't decide what I want to do :(

I've never regretted a ride.
Ride every chance you get~ you won't be sorry. I promise.
Just do a light and enjoyable ride.

I ride every chance I get no matter what. Just because you go out to ride you don't have to ride the hide off of him. Just go for a nice easy walk/trot and relax. In my opinion it is always worth it.

I didn't end up riding him. I did some groundwork instead.

In the winter here it's quite often 4-6 weeks or more before we ride. Just don't ride hard and it should be ok.......nothing wrong with a little break!

My horses are the joy in my life.....
