Hello to all,

Just need some information on winter gear. What would be the best riding
gear to keep warm while riding in cold, damp weather...my horse is prepared..
but not me...any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you,
Carol

Winter riding is not about looking pretty, but staying warm. There are days I go to the barn looking like a football. I can barely move, but somehow manage to get on a horse. My best tip is I put a pair of latex gloves under my winter riding gloves. My hands stay toasty warm.

I have some fleece-lined black boot cut breeches, and they are SO warm! They're from 'irideon riding wear' and they're as comfy as yoga pants, super warm in the winter, and they have suede knee patches so they grip! Plus they don't look ridiculous because they're boot cut (I ride Western!)

Personally, I'm not a big fan of layers. I have a pair of thermal tights and use the thickest shirt I have. If it's really cold I wear my good winter coat. I also have a pair of winter boots and always wear gloves.

My cousin takes those packs that heat up when you scrunch them enough and puts them in her boots.

I wear tall insulated boots to keep my feet and lower legs warm. And when I'm riding, if it's cold enough, I use a Velcro quarter sheet to keep my thighs and butt warm, as well as my horses butt!
