All the appropriate clothing for English showing

Im in 4-H :) I absolutely love it! Could anyone tell me what articles of clothing ill need for basic classes like Enlgish Pleasure? :)

Well you would need a show shirt and coat, Breeches, Tall boots, Gloves and helmet. At least that what I would wear.

I think the boots would depend on your age, I don't know about 4H but I know over here it tends to be that under 16's wear jodphur boots and over 16's tall boots. Obviously there are exceptions but that seems to be the general idea. I would also say a tie is a nice idea.

I would speak with your club leader - they can give you specifics as it does vary sometimes from locale to locale, and the county level is often a bit more relaxed than the state.

You cannot ever go wrong with the following:

Tan or beige breeches

Black tall boots. Make sure they are polished.

Black or Navy blue riding coat. Definitely not a dept store blazer.

White shirt with choker collar for women, white shirt with turndown collar and white tie for men.

Black or dark brown leather gloves

Black or dark navy velvet or suede covered helmet.

One more thing, don't wear white breeches unless you are riding in a dressage show OR you are showing on some very high level hunter or jumper shows.

Why do you say that?

Well first.. are you riding Saddleseat or Hunter or Dressage style? All can be classified under the broad category of "English Pleasure" at 4-H and some of the smaller open shows (horrifyingly). Your attire would be quite different, depending on which you are showing.
