All new show clothes

I need a horse show clothes makeover. What stuff do you use and what can I use to get me noticed at a show?

What classes do you show in? Unless you really look like a slob right now, Your clothes won't make a difference if your horse isn't well trained, your tack isn't clean and well fitted, and you aren't a correct and confident rider with clean/well fitting clothing

There's lots of top wp riders showing in plain button up shirts with saddles that aren't loaded in silver.. If you've got a good one, it will stand out.

Could you post a pic of what you're wearing now?

Are we talking Horsemanship, eventing, hunters....?

Sorry I see now that my question wasn't very detailed. I ride in a pair of jeans (no chaps) and a button down shirt with a little bit of a design on it but nothing glittery or anything, a pair of boots and I just got a new balck hat.

Well, you still haven't told us what discipline you're showing in, so I can't tell you specifically what outfit criteria you should go by. Generally, if you want to upgrade to a fancier show outfit, your first step is to buy a pair of show pants and chaps. I suggest black for both on a budget because it's so easy to switch out tops to match the chaps without having to buy another whole outfit because your gorgeous baby blue chaps match absolutely nothing but the one shirt . Been there, done that!

After you have these, look around for rail shirts/jackets or slinkies on eBay and equine classified sites. My first year of showing I used a pretty black and silver slinky that cost me around $130 at Hobby Horse, but if you look around and buy secondhand you can find some nice outfits for less.

Don't worry about the blingy belts or spur straps for now, just focus on putting together a pant/chap/jacket outfit.

Clothes don't make the rider.

FWIW, I show breed shows in a button up solid shirt and do fine.

I'm not really caught up in having really fancy stuff but I would like to look nice when I go to shows. I want to get a new shirt that's a little nicer than the one I have. Where could I find one, that's still button down but maybe a little fancier? Thank you equiniphile for the advice.

Oh and something that I can wear with jeans instead of show pants.

I am going to be blunt. Wearing a "fancy" shirt with jeans is tacky and makes you look like you are either half-assing it or very novice. It's not something that very serious showmen do.

A professional look is favored. If you want to do a rail shirt, then go the full route. If you want to wear a button up shirt, then find something that is professional looking.
