Clipping threads?

Hello,
I have a show tomorrow (SO excited!) and I just got a show coat, my first one, for the show. Its an RJ Classics Essential Hunt Coat or something like that, and it is black.
At the bottom in the back of the coat, where the little flaps or gussets or whatever they are called are, there are some little white strings holding the flat to the coat. Should I cut these? They are only at the bottom, and they are holding the flap onto the rest of the coat. Do they need to be cut? Sorry if this is confusing, I can't exactly explain this well, and I can't take pictures of them because the coat is black so you can't really see anything on it. I will try and post some pictures of the flap I'm talking about if I can find a good picture.
Thanks!
