Its best to stay with shades of sand/tan and black. Depending on what color your outfit is will depend on what color your chaps should be so it looks good.

I am getting a red top. And my saddle pad is black with the sand color in it.

My pally was like a newly minted gold coin and chocolate brown really set off her color. My hat matched my chaps. In real hot weather it was chocolate brown jeans.

Show clothing is just like any other fashion. You want to select colors and patterns that will be flattering on your body. You also want to make sure that your colors go well together.

Depending on the shade, a red top and sand chaps is going to run into the problem of cutting you in half.

A rich chocolate color , especially since you top is red, but if your pad is mostly black, you may want black, if you are shopping at a store, be sure your pad is super clean, leave it in your vehicle, then ask if you can bring it in, and see what the chaps look like near it.
