Which Color Show Coat?

I'm currently looking for a show coat- up until now my trainer has been nice enough to let me borrow one of hers, but we've been looking into buying one as I'd like to show more extensively. I'm for sure going the Grand Prix route- my trainer has a Grand Prix show coat that she has had since she was in high school or college, I believe; it still looks like new and she has told me that they're a great investment.
That being said, however, I don't know what color to get! There is navy herringbone (Dover Saddlery | Grand Prix Classic Coat - Navy, Black or Red .), navy w/ burgundy (Dover Saddlery | Grand Prix Dinamico Show Coat .), and navy windowpane (Dover Saddlery | Grand Prix Supreme Show Coat.). I don't want to get something that is 'in' right now that I won't like later on, so should I just stick with the navy herringbone? I kind of like the look of the navy and burgundy coat, but my opinion is based off of the picture on the website, so not very trustworthy.
Any ideas?

Personally I like black. It goes great with all colors of breeches and looks great with your black cap and black boots. If you don't like black sage and light blue are a fun alternative that really pop!

In all honesty, no judge is going to take off points because your jacket has a slightly different pattern than someone else's. BUT, if you are concerned about getting a trendy jacket and have it be out of fashion in a few years, stick with the herringbone. I was wearing one ten years ago, and would still wear it now, if only it fit ...

(As for me, I do equitation and I've been seeing some awfully cute black window pane jackets at some of the A shows. Since I've also been thinking about doing some low level jumpers at the end of the year, I think I'll kill two birds with one stone ....)

I say get the one you like, all the ones you chose look nice. Any kind of navy with or without a pattern is classic and will be in style for a long time. My first hunt coat that I bought about 20 years ago had a small pinstripe in it and that's still in fashion. The patterns are so subtle you can't tell a huge difference anyways. Now if you wanted to get a light tan jacket? Or even black? I'd tell you you might want to go with something less trendy! But navy's been in style for longer then I"ve been alive and I have a feeling it will be for a long long time!
