Hobby Horse has a neat little chart in their catalog that shows you what colors might look best for you and your horse. They have a digital copy of their catalog online, so you can see it on their website. The chart is on page 25. Hobby Horse Clothing Co. - Horse Show Apparel, Attire, Accessories
I think teal is a good choice. It looks good on almost any color horse. =) It's nice that you already have boots to match, too
I think at the bottom of the chart it has some colors that look good on almost any horse, teal/aqua being one of them. I think purple is there too? Not for sure without looking.
I agree sand and chocolate are kind of blah, I wouldn't put them on my redhead either. You could mix them with the teal, though - there was a rider wearing an aqua blouse and sandy-colored chaps that looked nice.
What will you be showing in? Will that mean that the breast collar and headstall will need to be leather?
I am not sure, so am just asking to make sure there wouldn't be rules, or something that would mean you could not use color on those items.
But also what color is your hair, as didn't get a good idea? And do you have pictures to put up that show the type of breastcollar, and headstall and pad you are looking at?
Shame there isn't a site like there is for hair, where you put a picture of you up, and try on different styles and colors, isn't there?
I will be showing in western pleasure, halter, command class, english pleasure (possibly hunter under saddle, and reining as well)
The breastcollar and headstall will be leather, but will possibly have colored crystals on it, that I want to coordinate with the saddle pad and my clothes.
My hair is reddish golden brown. Thanks :) I think I will just be wearing jeans for the western classes. It's not a high level show so I'm sure it will be alright without chaps, but if I find some cheap used ones by then, I will wear chaps.
Thanks!
There have been quite a few clothing lines, (not horse but still) that have used deep chocolate and teal together and it looks lovely. And I am seeing bed linens with that too.
The chocolate would bring out your hair too I think. And you said your boots were that color I seem to remember?
You could mix in one of Hobby Horse's suggestions as a second show shirt, that would complement your horse and tie in with teal too. That way would change you up and make you feel fresh, if day was very hot or got dirty somehow.
