Question do i really need shotgun chaps?

I would like to show my Gypsy Vanner gelding this summer and I am on a strap budget, all the show outfits that I see on different pictures and all stuff have shotgun chaps, are they really needed!

For breed shows such a AQHA & the like, yes, for open shows, no.

I am only planning to do open shows for now:) thanks! So then I am planning to use just yoga pants, or do I need the "specialty'' showmanship pants?

You do need proper pants not yoga pants

A pair of slacks or black jeans will work.
