I would almost bet that the people who are bothered by non horse people wearing riding clothes are mostly under 30-40 years old. Most likely MUCH younger. As you get older, you might find more important things to get all upset about.

I get lots of my street clothes at second hand stores, yet don't think too hard about spending 200.00+ for daily riding breeches. I did flinch a bit when I got hoof polish on a pair of 250.00 breeches..........

I am by no means a fashionista or even slightly fashionable, but I remember a well known designer saying that fashion seems to follow a few basic themes, the ones that stuck in my mind she mentioned were S&M (straps-think bandage dresses and tops that were popular recently, zippers and leather). The other being equestrian. Right now it seems trendy. Knee high boots with buckles, breeches, leggings or jeggings, cowboy inspired boots and skinny jeans.
Meh, I think of it as I finally have something in my closet somewhat trendy! LOL!!

It won't be long before the style changes again.(it's one thing you can always count on)

I DON'T LEAD 'EM AND FEED 'EM, I RIDE 'EM AND SLIDE 'EM.

It is simply clothing and to think otherwise is being a bit elitist in my opinion.
Now if they start sprinkling horse hair on them, then it's a different matter. :)

I wear running shoes half the time I'm in the barn or around horses.

I wonder if joggers get offended that horse people wear their gear??

Well they should. Ha ha ha.

Let 'em wear what they want, and we can still snicker behind there back. After all, if it isn't stained, muddy, or smell like poop, it doesn't really count!

I think it's kind of silly that this is even a discussion xD

I don't have time to worry about what other people are wearing (unless it's boyfriend and he's wearing pajama pants to the movies. That is a big, giant no). I happen to really like fashion, and really enjoy designer things both in and out of the ring. I have three or four pairs of riding boots (two paddock, one tall, and one like... 'winter'). But, I also have tons of "fashion" "riding boots". Who cares if girls wear these?
