Doing your hair hunter style (Thick, short layers)

That's been the standard "hunter princess" look since I was junior -- back when George Morris and I were both young and boot garters were still in style.

Canary breeches too! I was da bomb!

I really want me a pair of Rust Breeches! What are Canary Breeches?

I remember rust breeches! I had a chestnut horse, and wore a grey jacket with a rust pinstripe and hunter princess hair!

The color of these is a little faded, mine were more ... canary.

The were considered proper in the hunt field locally up until the 80s; but went out of fashion in the show ring mid 70s.

I have a pair of rust breeches and LOOOOOOOVE THEM!! I get compliments all the time! They're by ariat, a fantastic reddish rust (not orangy) with black piping down the sides. I was going to wear them in a George Morris clinic I did a few months ago but chickened out....

I want rust breeches SO BAD...ehem. But yes hair ALWAYS goes over the ears in the hunt ring! Even though it drives me crazy too... I would never do it any other way.

Back in...ohhhhh...1995 when I was showing AHA shows, I wore rust breeches!

I was 12! I remember my first A show, I was entered into an Open HUS class. Yes, OPEN.

I was riding with not one person under the age of probably 20 and they were all on their high dollar flashy horses and here I was little 12 year old with rust breeches and a 17" saddle (that was probably at least 3" too big for me) on our backyard gelding.

Oh and yes, with my hair over my ears :)
