And you MUSt share pics of your GM clinic - and you MUST share your experience!!!!

Oops, forgot to respond to this! GM actually does not allow you to take pictures during the clinic. I do have a pic with him from when I audited a clinic a few years ago though...

Riding with him was AWESOME. He's hardcore, works your butt off, demands perfection, and I loved every second of it. Despite popular belief, he's just as free with his compliments as he is his criticisms. I finished the clinic feeling very encouraged about my riding.

^^ That is awesome Upnover! He comes to my neck of the woods once a year to Waterloo - a huge Hunter/Jumper barn where they host A circuit shows. He not only Judges the show, but also gives a Clinic the day after all is said and done.

He also hits Detroit often. I have audited his clinics, but never ridden. I think it is very admirable that you rode with him!

Thanks!! He's just started coming to our somewhat area the past few years but this was the first time I got to do more then audit. It was also the first time his clinics here were more then a day! It was actually really fun... one of my best friends rode in his jumper class while I rode in his hunter class so we were able to take notes off each other's classes and polish each other's boots. I've never cleaned my tack so diligently in my life! (2x a day!) I've also never polished my bits/stirrups/spurs either. And we had a ton of friends who were showing at the show hosting the clinic so it was a bit of a vacation!

The horse I rode is a bit on the green side and after the cinic he was going better then he's ever gone before! AND he actually got on my friend's horse to demonstrate something and she said she had never felt her jumper so light. What's so incredibly refreshing is that he is NOT about gimmicks. Actually, he never said anything I've never heard before. He's nothing but solid foundations, good solid riding/horsemanship. We did lots of flatwork, poles, gymnastics, etc. And both my horse and I improved by leaps and bounds. I loved it. If you ever get a chance to ride in his clinics I highly recommend it! I had to sell my favorite pony to afford it (it was NOT cheap) but I'd do it again in a heartbeat! In fact, I'm looking for another prospect pony to be able to afford next year!

Makes me realize how little I clean my tack - I should ah....get my patootie in gear on that......poor tack :(

It sounds like you had an exceptional time! I love how you bring up the point that GM is a horseman who is not about gimicks - that is awesome! He is who he is for a reason!

It is great that he was able to get on your friends horse, and was able to help the both of you with getting them to work "better" - I love it when I coach gets on Nelson and shows me a few things or two...lol, but then it's like "wait a minute, you make him look better than I can! GET OFF!" lol.
