Helmet Question!

So, for hunters/equitation riders, is it mandatory to have the traditional velvety kind of helmet, with a bow on the back?

I am moving up in showing, and will be going to the Tryon Classics next week, so there will be stiff competition. I am pretty sure it is a rated show. I need to order a new showing helmet ASAP, since the one I have right now gives me terrible headaches. I am thinking about this helmet: Charles Owen JR8 Helmet | Dover Saddlery

But I like the look of these ones better: Troxel® Avalon Helmet | Dover Saddlery
Ovation™ Zephyr Elite Helmet | Dover Saddlery

And they are a bit cheaper. However, are they appropriate for hunter and equitation classes?

As for jumpers, these would work, right? Would the Ovation Extreme work for jumper classes, or is it too informal? Gosh, I love that helmet! It fits perfectly and keeps my head cool. I've shown in it a few times, but only at small local shows, where you can drag your horse from the back 40 and win a class. (not really, but you get the idea)

For rated shows the Charles Owen is the most appropriate IMO.

Thanks for the reply! A friend of mine actually has a barely used Charles Owen that she doesn't need anymore, so she is letting me borrow it for shows. I lucked out on this!

GPAs are actually what's currently "in" for rated shows.

That said, I own a Charles Owen for show that I love. Good luck!
