Horse Show Clothing Poll

You are aprecated on here and thank you for asking about rideing attire.
All ways rember if you don't ask you will never know and its great to share idears and imformation.
Is it right or wroung for people to ask especially the young well if we all clamed up and critisise we would not learn im glad you have asked as there are a lot of other people around this world who have there own styles there own horses ponys donkeys mules.
But sigh we pick holes in every thing why we are humam.
I think we need to step back and take a look and listen and ask its in our nature to do so, that's how we learn.

What type of helmet do you use? Depending on your dicipline of course.

Right now I use a Troxel helmet and put a velvet helmet cover on it for showing.

What do you wear as a top? Polo or show shirt and jacket? What brands and/or types?

Show shirt and jacket. Not sure which brand for my jacket as I was given an old one found in the barn, but I think the shirt is made by On Course.

On your legs? Jodspurs? What colors do you prefer?

Tall boots, black.

On your feet? For socks? For boots? Brands and types?

Just some socks from Wal-Mart and Equistar tall boots.

What ever thay are thay are the same thay gather the same facts the same imformation.
whether who wears more or less of the same equestrian products that are out in the wide wide world of tack shops.
Im glad people decide to make strings like this this opens our eyes to the many disaplins in the equestrian world what we do what horses we have and clothing attire to suit them and us.
Speedy just join in.
Afterall we all own horses ponys muels and donkeys.
All I can say is that, is what makes this forum great.
It is our horses we would not be here if we did not own them.

For Gaming Riders

What do you wear as a top when you perform (barrel race, pole bending, etc.)? I wear a red long sleeved collared shirt.

What do you wear on your legs? Do you ride in a certain brand or style of jean? Or do you wear darkers colored jodspurs when you game? Some people choose to wear chaps. Do you? I just wear jeans that I get from Walmart :)

What do you wear for socks and boots? Do you wear normal everyday socks or riding socks like zocks and ovation? Do you wear cowboy boots, riding boots, or paddock boots? If so, what brand? I wear normal socks and my cowboy boots. I don't know what brand the boots are.

When you game do you wear a helmet or a cowboy hat? If so, what brand do you wear? I wear a troxel helmet for 4-H shows, other shows I wear a cowboy hat.

I have two Ariat show shirts (white and light blue) and an Essex Classic white show shirt. I have a navy Ariat coat as well as a charcoal RJ Classic coat.

On your legs? Jodphurs? What colors do you prefer?
I have tan Tailored Sportsmans and Ariats that I like to show in.

I have a large tall boot sock collection of many colors, patterns, and brands. My tall boots are custom Der Dau boots.

I do dressage and I use a Eurohunter HiLite Pro.

For EA I wear either a singlet with a show bib and stock with a jacket over the top or a long sleeved white shirt with a tie and jacket. For pony club it's a long sleeved white shirt with a vest and tie.

On your legs? Jodspurs? What colors do you prefer?
I wear white jodhpurs for EA and black for pony club. I prefer Peter Williams jodhpurs but DG Westerners are also a good brand.

On your feet? For socks? For boots? Brands and types?
I use stockings instead of socks as it makes my boots fit a bit better. I use custom made Renee Perdetti Hamag gaitors with Dublin zip up boots.

For Western people

On your head, depending on your age, what do you wear on your head? Do you still stick with the helmet or leveled up to a cowboy hat?
A western hat, beaver/felt blend. The higher the "x's" the better quality hat. I have three hats; a black 8X Resistol, an 8X Bailey and a straw hat. For formal classes and at big shows, ALWAYS a beaver/felt hat. At smaller shows in halter and WP....a straw hat in the summer.

As a top what do you wear? A show shirt? What does it look like?
For Showmanship I wear a Showmanship suit, for WP and HMS a rail shirt. I have custom show clothes and don't do "off the rack" like Hobby Horse, bcause you'll see your "twin" in the ring.

As pants do you wear jeans, dress pants, or showmanship pants? What do you use for chaps?
I have custom chaps, two pair...and I wear jeans under them. For SMS, it's a SMS suit with pants that match the jacket.

On your feet? What do you wear? Cowboy boots or riding boots?
For riding classes, crepe sole boots. For SMS, lace up Ropers.

Gaming

What do you wear as a top when you perform (barrel race, pole bending, etc.)?
Normally either a tank top or t-shirt -- I overheat *extremely* easily, so short sleeves are a must. Recently though, I've taken to wearing a short-waisted corset as well -- it helps my posture and, as I'm quite 'top-heavy', is phenomenal for support.

Just jeans. Nothing special about them, so long as they fit. I do have a pair of chaps, but -- because of the above-mentioned overheating -- they don't get much use.

Any socks, so long as they are knee- or thigh-highs. Best as I've been able to tell, Ovation/Zocks/etc aren't really any better or worse than the cheapo Wal-Mart brands. Just more expensive and prettier.
For boots, cowboy boots 24/7! My current pair are Ariat's, but I'm not really brand-loyal.

Neither. I've had some bad experiences with helmets (yes, they were properly adjusted/fitted/etc), and I used to have a cowboy hat (forgot the brand), but it got *destroyed* and I've never gotten around to replacing it.
I have an old straw hat, but it falls off everytime I run, so I don't bother wearing it.

Ariat Challenge II boots, with my dad's dress socks underneath and maybe Zocks

For English Showing
What type of helmet do you use? Depending on your dicipline of course.

I use my regular Troxel helmet with a velvet cover.
What do you wear as a top? Polo or show shirt and jacket? What brands and/or types?
For small shows, A polo is usualy ok. For bigger ones, A nice long sleeved shirt meant for showing, such as TuffRider.
On your legs? Jodspurs? What colors do you prefer?
Yes, Jodphurs, Beige or tan. I like Devon-Aire.

On your feet? For socks? For boots? Brands and types?
You can wear nice half chaps with paddock boots that are both black, or tall boots.
In winter, thicker socks are more appropriate. Summer, zocks.
