What that says basically. I'll be 17 in a month and traditionally (around here) under 18's wear riding clothes when showing their horses, except if the breed standard dictates differently. Usually jods and short boots for the lower half.
The thing is, I'm not sure if that applies to foals. Satin's not registered anywhere so there is no breed standard for me to worry about. I really like the look of a nice tailored pants suit and of course style never goes out of fashion so it's the one item in my show wardrobe that will probably not need to be replaced for quite a long time. But it would mean spending money because at the moment I just have a hacking jacket, jods, boots and a tie... plus a horrible little cotton shirt that doesn't fit, which I will be replacing before we show next.
I don't like spending money unnecessarily so before I go out looking for a suit... can I show my filly in riding gear, or is it considered more proper to show foals in a suit? The majority of under 18's don't show foals, but we are allowed - I have a friend who used to show her mum's Arab foals, before they stopped breeding.
