Leather and Rubber boots?

I am currently riding in rubber boots instead of leather. Until I can get a job I will be wearing my rubber tall boots. I want to do showing so is it acceptable to wear rubber boots for jumping, cross country, dressage? If not why isn't it allowed? Someone told me that rubber boots are not allowed for showing but I don't see why it depends on the boots.

It's not that they arn't allowed, they just don't look as good as leather. And they don't grip as well as leather will on the horse's side. There are pretty ok tall boots for not very big prices out there too :)

Like Stormy said, it's not that they aren't allowed, but at least in my area they are frowned upon. They simply do not look as good as leather boots and don't help you grip at all

They're allowed. Go for it until you can buy leather boots.

And honestly, unless a person is focusing on whether your boots and rubber or leather, they probably won't even notice. They have better things to worry about at a show ;) The only thing that gives them away is that they aren't as "shaped" in the ankle as leather boots are.

What kind do you have? There are some synthetics that are very much constructed like leather boots, but I used to have a pair of basic rubber tall boots and the sole was just horrible. I wouldn't have jumped in them, it wouldn't have been safe at all. Especially not cross country where you want a little stickability on your inside calf.

I have these, they are Cadet riding boots. I have jumped in them and I have very good balance and grip in these.
