Love that blanket! And yes, as long as you show in the summer, straw hat is fine.

Random question since I'm thinking about it...

Should my hatband match my saddle blanket?

And when I saw that blanket, franknbeans, I fell in love. Doesn't hurt that it's only $60 at CAL Ranch

I always stick to neutral colors on a hat band, nothing flashy otherwise it's distracting.

So, if I took some of Aires tail hair (it's black and white) and braided myself a hatband, it'd be cool?

I actually do custom horse hair jewelry. NorthernStar has a bracelet she ordered from me a while back and I did one for a friend of mine for her mom for Christmas. Gives me something to do while I'm watching TV at night. Lol

Www.horseshoesandhearts.webs.com is the little website I made to display my work thus far.

I don't know a thing about Western boots or showing, but I also have man calves and teeny tiny feet, and am really short on top of all that, so finding any tall boots is a nightmare. I was immediately going to suggest Ariat's though. I got a great pair of insulated tall winter boots, and while I was trying them on at the tack shop, the nice lady who helped me told me they were the best of the brands they carry for large calves (as she was zipping them up for me since I couldn't do it myself since they were pretty snug!! ) They also do have a little stretch to them, so after wearing them all winter, they do fit nicely now. And I no longer have to ask my husband to zip my boots for me!

If they make something in a western style, I would say it would be a good bet.

I like these:

Ropers & Lacers Heritage Roper - Ariat

And I adore these (I think this is one of the styles I tried on at CAL Ranch and really liked):

Fatbaby Rodeobaby Square Toe - Ariat

I personally like my boots on the taller side-those are a little short for me, but it is personal preference. You may like the shorter if your calves are big....but my daughter, who does some big tie weights can wear the Ariats. (she can't find a long sleeve blouse to go over her arms, but..... ) I would also suggest you look on eBay.....IF you know your size. I know my size in Ariat, so can get bargains......Bidding on a brand new pair right now-will probably go for about 1/2 price.

I'm taking the dogs to the groomer today and our groomer happens to be in CAL Ranch, so I'm going to try on some boots while I'm there. Also going to go to the one tack store that sells clothing as well and check out their boots, too. Oh! Ad might head out to Boot Barn (I always forget we have one because it's in the next town over, so about a twenty minute drive lol).

Once I find something I like, I'll write it down and look on eBay.

Would those styles work, though?
