Paddock Boots Suggestions?

Here I am, sadly left with scraps of leather that barely hold together for boots. The time has come to replace them. I got the Ariats about 6-7 years ago and they began falling apart last year. Now it has come to the point that I must say goodbye and find some new ones. Now before I had used my laceup ariats for all my riding. But now I own a new pair of strictly western ariats and now I need some advice on Paddock boots for training and everyday english riding.

Honestly I don't have $100+ to spend on these. Yet I want something that lasts, I just need function and comfort. I don't care much about appearance (as long as its black) What's the best quality for a lower price? Where is a happy medium of quality and price I can look into?

I had Dublin paddock boots that lasted over 2 years with everyday use. I think they were a bit cheaper than Ariats. Not really sure.

I think you can get Ariats for under $100. I love my ariat paddock boots. :) Let me see if I can find you a link.

The Mountain Horse brand is a nice one too.

Ebay! You can always find a pair or two of Ariats on Ebay going for a reasonable price. I just bought a pair of basically brand new western boots for $52. It may take a little bit more detective work than just going into a store and purchasing, but if your willing to do it the price savings can be quite nice.

Also, stay away from the Saxon boots. They aren't the worst thing you can ride in, but their "equi-leather" is quite hard to break in. Read: my boots were still as stiff after 3 months as the day I got them. I ended up replacing mine with a pair of Ariats (and thus began my obsession).

Thanks everyone, I know that western ariats are like socks for my feet and last forever. Yet I have heard that the English type of ariats use a bad quality material. Though I guess that you guys still swear by them, I would love to stick with them as I know my size and they ere comfortable.

eBay always scares me. Haha knowing me I would get addicted to buying things.

I got Ariat paddocks this spring, around Marchish, and by the time May came, the zipper broke. I had an extra pair of Equistar Lace-Ups sitting around that I used for 2 shows in showmanship, so I just started riding in them. They're not the best, but hey, they work. Lol
Don't get me wrong but I LOVE Ariats. That was the only pair of boots I had of theirs where the zipper broke.
I use Mountain Horse for show now, and really like them!
Dublins is also good.

I have Ariat zipup paddocks and love them. Have been wearing them every day for over a year and a half and were I to ever clean them, they look brand new. There's hardly any wear on the soles at all. So I guess I'd say even if they are a little more, Ariats last and that makes em inexpensive in the long run. EBay and CL can get you great deals, like the other posters said.

I have never found anything that I felt were as comfortable as my Ariats. I am another one that scours ebay for them. My last score was a pair of like-new pull on paddock boots for $23, and that included the shipping!!

I love Mt Horse products! Actually more than Ariat (but it's a matter of taste).

Don't get Saxon: they last just year for me.
