Saxon Equileather boots: Your opinions?

I've got to get a pair of field boots this year...my trainer doesn't like her riders to wear dress boots for hunters. And my dress boots are pull-on anyway and it's annoying to me.

SO. I'm not wanting to put a fortune into these boots, less than $100 I'm hoping, because I will more than likely wear them ONLY for shows. I of course still want a good fitting boot that will look well enough at the local shows. Long-lasting isn't that much of a priority, being that I'll use them one or two days a month. It would be different if I were investing in them for every day use.

I'm just a little skeptical. Anybody got these? Do they look good enough for a local schooling show? Are they comfortable?

I had a pair. They fell apart after a few months of regular use. Very uncomfortable to walk on - you felt every little rock on the ground.

Subbing. I, too, am looking for a pair of decent tall boots for pretty cheap.

I think I'm just going to suck it up and get a pair of $210 Mountain Horse and get it over with. Hopefully my birthday fairy will bring them to me.

I was watching a pair of ariats on ebay, but I expect they'll go way out of my price range. I just can't justify spending over $100 on a pair of boots...just can't.

I LOVE MINE!!! They're cheap and soooo comfortable. Mine had a few rubs/scuffs after 2 years, but what's another $80 instead of $200? Plus I never had to beak them in for some reason. I never had blisters!!! LOVE!

NO. Do not get Saxon Equileather boots. I got a pair and the heals split and cracked the first dressage test I wore them.
They were comfortable, but I wouldn't get them unless you want to keep replacing them.
I think if I was going to be wearing them regularly I'd spend a little extra on something that will last longer.
I feel the same way about not being able to justify spending more than $100 on boots, but I dropped $140 on some Ariat gaitors last year for shows. My last pair have gone 2 years now being worn 5 or 6 times a week and have only just started falling apart. I spent $200 on them and I'm glad I made the investment.

I had a pair of Saxon paddock boots last year when I first started riding. They lasted about 2 months, I think before I upgraded to Ariats. They held up well, didn't look like they had ever been worn, but they also never broke in either. I joked that they were literally in brand new condition. The "leather" was just too stiff, and I couldn't move my feet near as much as I needed to. I couldn't imagine using them for lots of two point work, I just don't think my pair would have allowed for that much flex at the ankles (they were super super stiff there).

While I won't say that they were the worse thing that I could have put on my feet, I would recommend trying to find another pair (even something on the used market) first.

Yep, same with me. Hold up less then a year.

It is better to invest the money in a quality product that will last you a long time than to spend a little bit of money on a poor quality product that will last you very little time. Ariat makes great quality products. My first pair of field boots were Ariat and the only reason I replaced them was because I grew out of them. I wore them at least 3 times a week if not more and kept them oiled and clean. They are also super awesome with customer service. If your zipper breaks or you have any other problems with your boots, call them and they will help you out. I would keep my eye out for a pair on sale and spend a little bit of extra money.
