Tall Boot Help!

I got new tall boots a few weeks ago (Ariat Challenge 2 Zip Feild Boot)...and the leather is really stiff, so we bought Leather Therapy: Restorer and Conditioner and the lady said, "Put it on the inside of your boots because it takes away the shine." Does this mean the inside like the part tht touches your horse? Or the inside meaning the actual inside of the boot...like the part that touches your skin/socks...? My family and I can't decide on what the lady meant. Do any of you use this product? If so, where do you apply it? And even if you don't use it, what do you think the lady meant?

Weird....i have no clue what she meant, but I never ever put anything on the part that touches the horse/the saddle.

Yeah, I just got those same boots a month ago and they are really stiff new. I just rode in them and they broke in and got soft after only 2 rides so I don't know how you feel about that but I would try it! I love the leather now though, it's very nice. If I were you, I wouldn't put anything on the inside but I'm not sure if it would hurt it or not. I just have sensitive skin and I would hate to have my leg rub on it and have a reaction to the chemicals! That would stink MAJORLY!

The inside that touches the saddle. That's the part (that and the ankles) you want nice and soft and grippy. If they were shiny on the inside they would also be slick and difficult to grip your horse. You want the outside to remain shiny and smooth. (conditioners can take away from the natural shine of the leather, use polish on the outside). Someone once told me to put hand lotion on the INSIDE (by my socks) of my tall boots and I tried it. It didn't do a whole lot! The challenges aren't too hard to break in though. Ride ride ride, where them everywhere.

We ended up returning the boots, not because of the leather, just because I felt like they were too loose on my calf, and the slims were TOO slim. Not the right boot for me! Haha(: Now we're looking at Dar Dau boots and Sergio Grasso boots. Pretty much just trying them to see what fits me best! Thanks for your help though!!

Lol, I have Der-Daus too. They fit me PERFECTLY but you will pay the price! Mine were around $1000 and I almost cried when I handed over the check. One of the custom companies I looked at have a crystal option. There are Swarovski crystals all over them; only for an extra $3,000!!! I wanted them but not for that price!!!! :)

There is an IMMENSE difference between Ariats and Der-Daus! Even Ariats and Sergios. If you can afford something in that range def go for that! I'm trying to talk my husband into letting me buy some Der Daus. The ones I want are $1800. (no crystals! Baby calf... drooool...) The ones I can "settle" for are $1400. We'll see. :) I'll probably get the Sergios.

Don't they only make customs? (in which case they SHOULD fit you perfectly!) do they have semi-customs floating around somewhere???

Lol, yeah they are customs. But I had customs a long time ago that diddn't feel the greatest. Der-Dau has the best customs lol. Yeah, I think they did have semis avail. I'm not sure if they still have them, though.
