Western Show Clothes Needed!

I'm going to be in my first show, and I have a helmet, and cowboy boots. I need a checkered shirt, western belt, and cowboy hat. Where can I find these, and how expensive are they?

Well, for my first show, I think I'm just doing western showmanship.

Get a solid twill from Rods. Actually, you can get it all at Rods.

Just wondering, where is rods? I'm not very familiar with tack shops and stuff.

I've always had my stuff custom made, benefit of having a seamstress/tailor for a grandmother :)

For my students, I've had luck with ebay and resale/tack shops, around here the local 4-H clubs also have tack/clothing sales to raise money for the club. You can find gently used show clothes and save money that way.

You can order online from many places, Rod's, Hobby Horse, Big D, Stateline Tack, etc.

Since it is your first show, I would consider going to JC Penneys to get a Worthington brand solid button blouse. Tuck that into a nice pair of jeans with a big belt that matches your boots. You can also buy a scarf from rods for aboaout $12 that matches your shirt or you might even be able to find something at a store like JC Penneys that you can use.

There is an inexpensive, form fitting outfit you can imitate. The shirt is from walmart and the scarf is made (although you could easily buy something or find something around the house). Pair that with some dark jeans, a belt and boots and call it good.
Atwoods or a Tractor supply may have belts and hats. You can find a felt western hat for $50 minimum and a belt for $30 and up. A nicer belt can cost from $90-$200.
